I love to paint large-scale and most of my works are around 3 to 6ft, oil on belgian linen. This requires a great deal of physical preparation even before a paint stroke is applied. I prepare the linen and grounds on which I paint, much like the old masters used to. This way the surface already has a character of its own and will stand the test of time.
My most recent body of work depicts large American wildlife - moose, elk, bison - in a free and uninhibited painterly style. I also love to paint the iconic underground art of the New York City subway. I am drawn to the vibrant color, liveliness and dramatic perspective of stairways and tunnels, beams and signage. Millions upon millions travel the subways every day, yet few stop to embrace the playful environment.
